President
Kirby Sheridan
Kirby Sheridan, of Concord, North Carolina, is a past president of the North Carolina Medical Society Alliance as well as the Cabarrus County Medical Society Alliance. She has served on the NCMSA board in several capacities over the years in efforts to improve the health of North Carolinians. Kirby earned degrees in English and in Radio/Television/Motion Pictures from UNC-Chapel Hill and enjoys working on communications efforts for the Alliance, particularly the NCMSA Tarheel Tandem and the AMAA LINK online newsletter. Kirby and her husband, Dave, an interventional radiologist, have four children, the youngest of which is a sophomore at UNC-Chapel.

Meeti Nigam
Meeti has been a board member of the NCMS Alliance for the last three years since relocating to Charlotte. She was active in various positions for many years with the Medical Society of Virginia Alliance. Her interest and involvement in community events, public health, and Alliance advocacy helped me grow as an Alliance leader. She has helped organize events for the Alliance and community, including health fairs for the public and charity events for a shelter for victims of domestic abuse.
Born in India, she completed her Bachelors in Science and Masters in Sociology. Her husband is a practicing anesthesiologist with Atrium Health. They were married while he was working in Caen, France. His medical career moved them to Augusta, GA; Boston, MA; Danville, VA; and now Charlotte.
They have three sons - a plastic surgeon, a general surgeon, and an undergraduate at University of Virginia; two wonderful daughters-in-law - a lawyer and a physician assistant; and a beautiful 4-year-old rambunctious granddaughter.

Susan Edens Hammer
Susan grew up in Fayetteville and has lived in Raleigh since 1971. Over the years, she worked for personal family business entities, served on nonprofit boards, and volunteered in the community. At the current time, she serves on the boards of her county Medical Society Alliance, the NCMSA and her church women's group. She loves to read, garden and travel. Susan has been a member of the Wake County, North Carolina and American Medical Association Alliance since 1983.

Treasurer
Barbara Lupton
Originally from Charlotte, Barbara Lupton lives in Greensboro with her husband, Fred. She worked as the Practice Administrator in her husband’s dermatology practice for 17 years. They have 2 grown daughters, one who lives in North Carolina, the other in New York City. She has served as a volunteer through her church, Junior League, Girl Scouts as a troop leader for both daughters and as an active volunteer in her children’s schools. Barbara has served in her local alliance, Greater Greensboro Medical Society Alliance for many years in a variety of leadership roles, including serving VP of Membership, Treasurer, President Elect, Local Alliance president and editor of the newsletter for several years. She is in her fourth year on the NCMSA Board serving as Membership VP for 2 years and currently serving her second term as Treasurer. She enjoys travel, tennis, hiking, reading, bridge and Mah Jongg.

Uma Avva
As a community volunteer for the past 20 years, Uma has held various leadership roles in non-profit organizations. Although born in India, Uma considers herself a Tarheel. She grew up in NC and obtained her undergraduate degree in nursing and a master’s degree in public health at UNC. Uma has served most recently as the Board Chair of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro (2022-23). Other roles include President of NCMSA and President of the Guilford County Council of PTAs. The common thread in her work is a passion for making the community a vibrant, educated and healthy place. Her personal interests include reading, food, and travel.

Cathy Ingram
Cathy has lived in Greensboro for 40 years with her husband Haywood who recently retired from a general surgery practice. They have three grown children, two granddaughters and a grandson. Cathy has been a member of the Greater Greensboro Society of Medicine Alliance for all of those 40 years, serving as co-president one year and maintaining the database of members for 25+ years. In addition to her involvement with the local Alliance, she volunteers for several non-profit agencies through her church and served as a Girl Scout leader for both daughters. She works part-time at a law firm providing IT support. Cathy enjoys pickleball, biking, hiking and reading.

Anne Krishnan
Anne grew up in Mt. Airy, NC, and has lived the past 13 years in Greensboro. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and has worked as a newspaper reporter and in nonprofit communications. She served as Co-President of the Greater Greensboro Society of Medicine Alliance for two years. She also has enjoyed volunteering with the Junior League, as a Girl Scout leader, and in a variety of capacities at her two children’s school. She and her husband Sriyesh, a radiologist, are avid fans of the UNC Tar Heels.

Barbara Savage
Barbara has served on the Alliance boards of three states, New York, Iowa and North Carolina. She was president of the Iowa Medical Society Alliance (IMSA) and North Carolina Medical Society Alliance, President 2019-21. She has served on the AMA Alliance National Board for many years in many different positions. She also has extensive experience in Meeting and Event planning and co-chaired the 2023 AMAA National meeting in Nashville, and was Hotel Liaison and advisor for the 2024 National meeting. She is married to Dick, a retired Pathologist, has two daughters, Cindy and Pamela and two grandchildren, Cora and Sammy.
